Inflation is a major problem in our country. In a report by PSA, the Philippine headline inflation or overall inflation increased to 2.9% in December 2024 it is higher compared to the November 2024 result but lower compared to December 2023 when the inflation rate reached 3.9%.

In the December 2024 result the inflation rate was influenced by the faster annual increment in housing, water, electricity, and gas, which is affecting other industries including construction which primarily affects the materials cost. In another report by PSA, the construction materials wholesale price index annual growth rate in NCR was 0.2% in December 2024.

The rate was the same as November 2024, but it was lower than the previous December, which peaked at 1.3%.But even with this inflation rate the Philippine construction industry is still moving, Both in the private and public sectors. The subway project is still underway. Build Better More is still running and more projects are still going as smoothly as they should be.

But where is this industry heading?

The current administration has already laid a plan for the 2022-2028 Infrastructure program. It includes projects such as the Taguig integrated terminal exchange, Cebu bus Rapid transit, and more. You can see the full list here. This current program is the improved version of the previous administration program the Build, Build, Build. Which formulated the creation of the Metro Manila Subway and more. You can see the full list here.

The government is also now solving the public housing problem which aims to provide the lower middle class a comfortable house that they need. The program is called Pambansang pabahay para sa Pilipino Housing program which aims to create 1 million housing units per year.

The country should also not be late with this sustainable living and technological advancement. To compete with this current trend. The developers in the country are now adapting to smart buildings that enhance energy efficiency and the tenants' experience. The reason behind this is that they need to meet the new regulatory requirements and growing consumer demands for environmentally friendly commercial space.

To make this country a better place we also need to improve our transportation sector. as this is also one of the major problems in our country that affects our economy. Now the government prioritizes transportation infrastructure, including roads, railways, and ports. These projects will also help the problem in logistics and trade. Investment in transportation is essential to facilitate economic growth and logistic trade.

The Philippines' Construction industry is still running even though we are faced with obstacles that slow down the growth of our country. Based on these reports we can see that with the help of the government and private sectors, the construction industry is running well. But the future is still unclear as we may face economic challenges and more obstacles.
