A Sustainable Concrete

Keppel Ltd, FiCO PanU, and Coteccons just recently signed a memorandum of understanding to explore sustainable concrete, ready mix mortar, advanced architectural materials, and 3D printing Which will be used in The Infiniti, the third Phase of residential real estate backed by Keppel in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

🤔 What’s the problem?

Traditional concrete can increase the amount of carbon dioxide, especially during the construction stage.

😉 The solution

Use CMC or CO2 mineralized concrete, a newly developed type of concrete that captures and traps embodied Carbon, A type of Carbon dioxide that is released during the construction stage.

Keppel will be the first real estate company in Vietnam to use CO2 mineralized concrete, a sustainable kind of concrete.

In March 2024, 1,562 tons of embodied carbon was cut down using this technology during the Infiniti mass founding stage. FiCO PanU estimates it will remove and reduce 2,803t on completion.

Steven Loh, general director of FiCO PanU said:

“We have a shared commitment towards the sustainable building of Vietnam’s city skyline, and to strongly support Vietnam in achieving its goal of net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.”

The innovative use of CMC technology spearheads a new dimension in Vietnam’s built environment industry to remove and reduce carbon emissions before a development project is completed,”
